Southern Michigan University’s Multicultural Center is a place for students and community members to gather, socialize, and collaborate. Vibrant colors, patterns, and meaningful murals highlight diversity while informal seating styles create a relaxed and welcoming environment for people of all backgrounds to enjoy. Sustainability is featured with multiple biophilic living wall installations throughout. Murals hand painted by local artists highlight the many cultures that make up SMU’s community. The Multicultural Center includes various resources for all community members to use at their discretion including accessible furnishings. Gathering spaces foster an environment that uplift marginalized voices and create a sense of belonging.
